Qualifications and Training
I am registered as a clinical psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. I completed my undergraduate and Honours degrees at the University of Cape Town. Thereafter, I worked for several years in other fields before returning to complete my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Stellenbosch University. I was trained primarily in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural approaches to psychotherapy.
I completed my internship at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria, where I worked with adults and adolescents who were living with bipolar-disorders, depressive disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma-related disorders, personality disorders and severe relationship problems. I then worked at the Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital in Port Elizabeth where I predominantly saw adults with mood disturbances, psychosis and/or substance use problems.
Now in private practice, I see a broad range of adults and am engaged in continual learning through additional training, professional supervision, reading and my own personal psychotherapy.
